Od and Obd

(Hebrew; some translate Odb as Ob) A Kabbalistic symbol representing two energetic forces in the body, known in Sanskrit as Ida and Pingala.

“You are my witness (Hebrew: עד OD), saith Iod Hei Vav Hei, and my servant (Hebrew: עבד OBD) whom I have chosen: that ye may know (Da’ath) and believe me, that these are the faces of your Binah: before me “El” (Chesed) was not formed, neither shall he (Chesed) become after me (Binah). I, even I, am Iod Hei Vav Hei; and AIN as part of me is one savior.” – Isaiah 43: 10, 11

Subliminal chemical intercourse causes transcendental nervous stirrings and extraordinary auric vibrations between the very different components of the human couple: Adam-Eve.

Divine radiations of a sexual kind have been qualified by the best esoteric writers as “Odic Light.”

Since science has commenced the study of the astral theory of the human body, it is fitting to use the terminology of ancient tradition for greater simplicity.

Here the Od [Hebrew: דע] is, beyond any doubt, the brilliant positive active magnetism which is directed by the marvelous power of the conscious will.

Here the Obd [Hebrew: דבע] is the passive magnetic fluid very wisely governed by the intelligent faculty known as creative imagination.

Here the Aur [Hebrew: רוא] is the differentiated luminous agent, the genius lucis of the cosmic amphitheater. Samael Aun Weor, The Mystery of the Golden Blossom.

Od

Hebrew: עד) “The Universal Medicine is, for the soul, supreme reason and absolute justice; for the mind, it is mathematical and practical truth; for the body, it is the quintessence, which is a combination of gold and light. In the superior world, the first matter of the Great Work is enthusiasm and activity; in the intermediate world, it is intelligence and industry; in the inferior world, it is labour; in science it is sulfur, Mercury and Salt, which, volatilized and fixed alternately, compose the AZOTH of the sages. sulfur corresponds to the elementary form of fire, Mercury to air and water, Salt to earth. All masters in alchemy who have written concerning the Great Work have employed symbolical and figurative expressions, and have been right in so doing, not only to deter the profane from operations which would be dangerous for them, but to make themselves intelligible to adepts by revealing the entire world of analogies which is ruled by the one and sovereign dogma of Hermes. For such, gold and silver are the Sun and Moon, or the King and Queen; sulfur is the Flying Eagle; Mercury is the winged and bearded Hermaphrodite, throned upon a cube and crowned with flames; matter or Salt is the Winged Dragon; metals in the molten state are Lions of various colours; finally, the whole work is symbolized by the Pelican and Phoenix. Hermetic art is, therefore, at one and the same time, a religion, a philosophy and a natural science. Considered as religion, it is that of the ancient Magi and the initiates of all the ages; as a philosophy, its principles may be found in the school of Alexandria and in the theories of Pythagoras; as science, its principles must be sought from Paracelsus, Nicholas Flamel and Raymund Lully. The science is true only for those who accept and understand the philosophy and religion, while its processes are successful only for the adept who has attained sovereign volition, and has thus become monarch of the elementary world, for the Great Agent of the solar work is that force described in the Hermetic Symbol of the “Emerald Table”: it is universal magical power; it is the igneous spiritual motor; it is the OD of the Hebrews and the Astral Light, according to the expression which we have adopted in this work. There is the secret, living and philosophical fire, of which all Hermetic philosophers speak only under the most mysterious reservations; there is the universal sperm, the secret of which they guarded, representing it only under the emblem of the caduceus of Hermes. Here then is the great Hermetic Arcanum, and we reveal it for the first time clearly and devoid of mystical figures: that which the adepts term dead substances are bodies as found in Nature; living substances are those which have been assimilated and magnetized by the science and will of the operator. Therefore the Great Work is something more than a chemical operation: it is an actual creation of the human Word initiated into the power of the Word of God Himself.” – Eliphas Levi, Dogma et Rituel de la Haute Magie (1855)

Lucifer

Yesod is then the ninth sphere, or ninth Sephirah and represents the sexual organs, and Tiphereth is the sixth Sephirah and represents the heart. The addition of these two spheres makes 15 (6 + 9 = 15). This is the Kabbalistic interpretation resulting in the Devil, Temptation, Arcanum 15 of the Tarot.

6 + 9 = 15

Tiphereth and Yesod = Tiphon- Baphomet

Who is the Devil?

The Devil-Lucifer is the sexual potency, the entity within the human body that gives the male an erection, and that gives to the woman the necessary humidity in sexual excitement in order to be penetrated by the man. Without Lucifer sexual contact is not possible. Man cannot penetrate the woman without the erection and the woman would not be prepared. This is what Lucifer gives to people in the sexual act.

Lucifer is the shadow of the three Supernals, represented by the trident – the three forces above in heaven that are the forces of creation or the Three Divine Atoms that every Monad carries in its belly. But in order to create below in matter they need the activity of their shadow, and that shadow is the shadow of the Father, the shadow of the Son, and the shadow of the Holy Spirit, and is called Lucifer.

Lucifer is situated in Daath (the Tree of Knowledge, the sex).

The Holy Name of God in the sixth Sephirah is:

יהוה אלוה ו דעת (Iod Hei Vav Hei Eloha va Daath)
יהוה Iod Hei Vav Hei in the sixth Sephirah is related with the polarities:

י Iod in alchemy is related to the phallus
ה Hei is the uterus
ו Vav is the male
ה Hei is the female
ELOAH VA DAATH signifies:

אלוה Eloha is a female word to indicate the feminine aspect of God
ו Vav in Hebrew means ‘and’
דעת Daath means ‘knowledge’
This is the mystery of the Buddhata or Embryo of Soul directly related with the Sixth Commandment, so that it can be developed as a Human Soul. We have to create or elaborate the Human Soul by impregnating our consciousness (Buddhata) with solar-electronic atoms in the Ninth Sphere (Yesod, sex) with the assistance of Lucifer. The Buddhata is a particle of Neshamah, the Divine Soul and is related with the heart.

Dionysus

(Greek) Διονυσο, Dionysos, from dio, “god,” and nusa, “tree,” thus the name literally means “god of the [world] tree.” Also called Bacchus (“riotous”).

Originally, Dionysus was a Greek symbol in the secret mystical schools, and was related to sexual power and to wine in the same way that Jesus is related to wine in Christianity. Those traditions were dedicated to purity of character and the perfection of the human being by transforming the base animal desires into purified spiritual exaltation. Dionysus was related to the spiritual intoxication that resulted from the purification of the heart and mind, thus he and his followers were represented in states of ecstasy, dancing, “drunk” on the “wine” of transmutation. Later, through degeneration, the symbolism of Dionysus was corrupted by a wide variety of cults and hedonistic interests. As a god, Dionysus was represented as androgynous (having both masculine and feminine aspects, as also represented in the Hebrew word Elohim). This also was later seized upon as a justification for degenerated interests.

Like Jesus, Dionysus was

<li>born of the union of a god and a mortal virgin (parthenos): “And Semele, daughter of Cadmus was joined with him [the god Zeus] in love and bare him a splendid son, joyous Dionysus, — a mortal woman, an immortal son. And now they both are gods.” – Hesiod, Theogeny 940
  • turned water into wine: “…in the Isle of Andros there is a Fountain in the Temple of Father Bacchus [Dionysus], which upon the Nones of January always runneth with Water that tastes like Wine…” – Pliny (the Elder), Natural History

“In the Anacalypsis, Godfrey Higgins conclusively establishes Bacchus (Dionysos) as one of the early pagan forms of the Christos myth, “The birthplace of Bacchus, called Sabazius or Sabaoth, was claimed by several places in Greece; but on Mount Zelmisus, in Thrace, his worship seems to have been chiefly celebrated. He was born of a virgin on the 25th of December; he performed great miracles for the good of mankind; particularly one in which he changed water into wine; he rode in a triumphal procession on an ass; he was put to death by the Titans, and rose again from the dead on the 25th of March: he was always called the Saviour. In his mysteries, he was shown to the people, as an infant is by the Christians at this day, on Christmas Day morning in Rome.” —Manly P. Hall, The Secret Teachings of All Ages

Thus, originally, Dionysus pointed the way towards elevation of the human being. However, humanity being what it is, we inverted the meaning. Now, people think Dionysus is a drunkard, homosexual god.

“It is urgent to correctly define Dionysus in the following precise and blunt way:

  • Voluntary transmutation of the sexual libido
  • Transcendental mystical ecstasy

“Therefore, to define the two aspects, positive and negative, of this cosmic vibration is relevant, urgent, and indispensable.

  • Positive Dionysian Pole: sexual enjoyment by means of sublimation; voluntary transmutation of the entity of semen; awakened consciousness; objective knowledge; superlative intuition; transcendental music of the great classical Masters, etc.
  • Negative Dionysian Pole: sexual degeneration; infrasexuality of many types; homosexuality, lesbianism; demonic pleasures within the infernal worlds by means of drugs, mushrooms, alcohol, etc., infernal music such as the “music” of these modern days, etc.

“To comprehend in depth the intimate processes of these two poles of the Dionysian wave is something very urgent… As a living example of these pair of diametrically opposite poles that correspond to the mentioned undulation, it is now opportune to cite here as a mode of illustration two contemporary revolutionary movements. Plainly speaking, I want to clearly and delicately refer to the universal, international, Christian, Gnostic movements, and also to the obverse of the Dionysian coin known with the ill-famed or infamous name of the Hippie movement and subsequent cultures. Unquestionably, the two mentioned psychological antipodes constitute, “per se,” a living, manifested demonstration of these pair of opposite poles of the tremendous Dionysian vibration. When judiciously arriving at this part of the present chapter, the necessity of a didactic confrontation is unavoidable. Dionysian inebriation, ecstasy, Samadhi, is obviously indispensable when one is trying to experience that which is the Truth, the Reality. Such exaltation is one hundred percent possible by means of the technique of meditation. Psychedelia is different. This term must be translated as this: psyche = “soul”; delia = “drug.” Specifically, we will state: psychedelia is the antithesis of meditation. The inferno of drugs is within the interior of the planetary organism on which we live, under the very epidermis of the terrestrial crust. Hallucinatory mushrooms, L.S.D., pills, marijuana, etc., evidently intensify the vibratory capacity of the subjective powers, but it is clear that they could never originate the awakening of the consciousness. Psychedelic drugs fundamentally alter the sexual genes and this is already scientifically demonstrated. The birth of monstrous children is evidence of the sequence of such negative, genetic mutations. Meditation and psychedelia are incompatible, opposite, and antagonistic. They can never be mixed. Unquestionably, these two factors of the Dionysian inebriation refer to and indicate psychological rebellion.” – Samael Aun Weor, The Three Mountains

“You may remember for a moment the Bacchantes when they were in their orgiastic period of rage. These were feminine beauties positively polarized with the Dionysian wave, nymphs of the forests and mountains who were persecuted by the lascivious Sileni. Behold now the ridiculous Maenads, who were negatively polarized with the wave of Dionysus… They were licentious dancers in the rage of their sacred madness, “hippie” women of ancient Greece… They were feminine prostitutes who were excited by drugs in complete Dionysian inebriation… the human and animal sacrifices were making them even more dangerous…. The lustful Maenads were the ones who killed Orpheus, and the marvelous lyre fell upon the floor of the temple and was broken into pieces.” – Samael Aun Weor, The Three Mountains

We find the staff within the Abrahamic traditions as well as the Greco-Roman mythologies, such as the pine cone staff of דיוניסוס Dionysus (Deus-Isis, the power of the God יסוס Isis within the sperm or נ Nun). Let us remember that the pine represents the spirit, since it is the tree of Aquarius (Aqua, water; Aries, fire) or sexual magic. This is why the Greeks depicted Dionysus with such a staff. We even find that the spear or weapon of the Trojans and Achaeans within The Illiad are phallic in nature, representing not only the male generative organs but also the spine. If you do a comparative study of different religions and mythologies, you will never find an end to such correlations.
