Bodhichitta is an entirely new mind. Bodhichitta is Christ mind. It is the kind of mind that is only concerned with the welfare of other beings. It is that mind that can use the higher teachings. If we do not have Bodhichitta, then the higher teachings are completely useless for us. In fact they can be dangerous. That is why they are withheld form us.
Human Being
HUMAN is derived from Hum (Spirit- Sanskrit) and Manas (mind- Sanskrit).
The Human is the Being whose mind is controlled by his true self as Spirit. This type of being develops that virtue called Faithfulness – the direct experience of the truth through the consciousness when the Mind is in silence. This is experience through the discipline of meditation, by controlling the mind – this is how we acquire the Self Gnosis or Objective Reasoning.
The Essence of Meditation
Meditation is a skill, so it is something you practice. You practice at whatever level you are at. In a sense it is very simple, if we were to simplify our practice as much as possible, it would be to learn how to relax your body, close your eyes, and to work with conscious attention and conscious imagination. You are going to struggle, with the same exact factors that you are struggling with self-observation throughout the day, which is falling into fascination, into identification, into dreams. Sila
Tendency, habit, custom, way of living or acting, shape, usage, virtue or practice. The three terms Sila, Samadi and Prajna are the Three Higher Trainings of Buddhism. Sila is ethics.
There are a lot of ways to interpret Sila. Do not use the word morality here, which is how many people translate it. Morality is completely subjective. What is moral in this country, is immoral in another country. What is moral in this culture, is immoral in another culture. What people in this group over here consider moral is considered immoral by us. So morality and immorality are completely subjective and have nothing to do with the laws of nature.
Ethics on the other hand are objective; they are universal. Violence is harmful. Anger is harmful. This is universal. Selfishness is harmful. This is universal. So this is what we mean by ethics.
Sila is about learning about our tendencies, habits, customs, ways of living, recognizing the ones that cause us to suffer and others to suffer, and starting to change them. That is how we learn to start meditating.
So the first thing is to start watching ourselves, all the time, and be honest with ourselves about what we see in ourselves.
