Hanukkah חנוכה – The Menorah with nine lights is associated with Hanukkah חנוכה, or “Festival of Lights.”
Hanukkah חנוכה is rooted in the word Hanok חנוך, which in English is translated as “Enoch.” We address Enoch in the lecture Kabbalah of Genesis 23: Iod, the River of Eden עדן; in it we explain that Enoch was the name of the Bodhisattva of the angel Metatron, the angel that represents Kether, the first Sephirah of the Tree of Life. So, Hanok חנוך, Enoch, is the Bodhisattva of Metatron, and the Bible indicates to us that in order to receive enlightenment, we have to work with Enoch, who represents the letter Iod י in the Tree of Life. Iod is the Shakti potential of the sexual creative energy, symbolized with olive oil, that which we have to sublimate from Yesod, in order to acquire the nine lights of the Menorah מנורה.
Alchemically, Hanukkah חנוכה relates to the battles of Judah Maccabee, who just as any alchemist, was performing the work of the Menorah in every Sephirah of the Tree of Life, in the world of Yetzirah.
